Christmas Non-Timber Forest Resources

Likely Xat’sull Community Forest – Nothing signals the coming of the holiday season like the fresh fragrance of cedar and balsam.

Why not herald the coming of the Yule-tide with hand crafted botanical decorations this year? The Community Forest living wreaths and garlands are individually made in the Likely/Xat’sull Community Forest by specially-trained artisans.

The living wreath is made from a backing of tightly wound cedar leaves bound with wire, with branches wound into this cedar-backing.  The branches are able to draw nourishment from the cedar oils in the backing, maintaining the lifespan of the wreath.

The Community Forest in Likely is a cross-cultural partnership between the community of Likely and the Soda Creek Indian Band (Xat’sull First Nation) in the Cariboo Region of BC who happens to be the 2010-1011 Forest Capital of Canada.

All of the proceeds made from the products go back into the community, making it healthier and wealthier.

Give the gift of a sustainably harvested, lush interior rain forest balsam and cedar wreath or garland to your friends, family, clients, and to yourself!
