Like all community forests, the Eniyud Community Forest on the Chilcotin plateau manages for multiple values. This often calls for tradeoffs to reduce social and environmental impacts of harvesting. Their recent fir beetle harvest involved access through a recreation area. Not only did decision-makers schedule harvesting to occur before the ski season to avoid conflict with ski trail users, they also diverted log hauling to back roads instead of going directly through the community to avoid disturbance and safety concerns.
