Alberni Valley Community Forest Corporation (AVCF) is seeking a new manager

Request for Proposals – Management Contract 2014-1

In November of 2009 the AVCF entered into a 25 year Community Forest Agreement with the Provincial Ministry of Forest and Range.  The Agreement provides for the exclusive rights to harvest Crown timber and non-timber resources from a specified land base area.  The Community Forest is held and operated by the “Alberni Valley Community Forest Corporation” (AVCF) which is 100% owned by the City of Port Alberni.

The AVCF Corporation is seeking proposals for the provision of management services as “Community Forest Manager” for the on-going operation of the Community Forest consistent with the Vision, Guiding Principles and Goals of the AV Community Forest Corporation Board of Directors.

The AVCF is beginning its second 5 Year Cut Control Period as of January 1, 2014.  The first 5 years of operation have been financially successful and have fulfilled the broader mandate while continuing to gain community support.

The Corporation invites qualified contractors to submit a proposal.  The proposal must detail the contractor’s experience in coastal forestry and area based management.  It must also provide evidence that the individual has the knowledge and skills to continue and enhance the detailed plan for on-going management of the Community Forest.

The Proposal document contains specific details on what information is expected in the proposal.  Proposal documents may be obtained from AVCFC office at 7500 Airport Road, Port Alberni, BC or from the website www.communityforest.com  Look under “Contract Opportunities 2014-1”

Proposal will be accepted at AVCFC office at 7500 Airport Road, Port Alberni, BC up to 4:30 on February 14, 2014.  Please mark on Envelope:  Response to Request for Proposals for the Management of the Alberni Valley Community Forest

Proposals can also be submitted by Email to: manager@communityforest.ca

The AVCF reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to accept the proposal that is deemed most favourable to the interest of the Corporation.
