Spring burning to begin

BC Wildfire Service and local crews are ramping up to burn piles of woody debris and to conduct planned burns over the next six weeks or so to reduce wildfire risks. This work is part of ongoing fuel management projects around the province. By removing this material, less fuel will be available to burn in the event of a wildfire and any such fire will burn with less intensity. Smoke and flames may be visible from surrounding communities.

To report a wildfire, unattended campfire or open burning violation, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cellphone. For the latest information on current wildfire activity, burning restrictions, road closures and air quality advisories, visit: www.bcwildfire.ca
