The West Boundary Community Forest and FESBC, with the support of the Osoyoos Indian Band, have collaborated on a project in the South Area/Kootenay Boundary Region/Selkirk District/Boundary TSA 3 km west of Grand Forks and south of May Creek.
“Our society is pleased to be a collaborative partner in this project which encompasses an area of 137 hectares,” says Gord Pratt, Operations Manager with FESBC. “This project has involved working together with local loggers, biologists, forestry specialists, and First Nations to reduce wildfire risk in the fuel-loaded stand in the May Creek area, while at the same time enhancing wildlife habitat, rehabilitating the low value stand, and recovering fibre, four of our society’s purposes.”
