Community Forest plans first harvest – Shayne Morrow, Alberni Valley Times – July 29, 2011
The first harvesting by the Alberni Valley Community Forest could get underway some time this fall. AVCF manager Shawn Flynn said the forest and engineering planning stages have been completed to determine the first cutblocks the new corporate entity will harvest.
“Our first contract is for 20,000 cubic metres, which is one year’s cut,” Flynn said. “We’ve identified about 19,000 m3 of harvest. How we sell this wood is not determined yet. That will be a board decision.”
