Canadian Forest Service launches new mobile app

In celebration of National Forest Week, the Canadian Forest Service launched My Tree, a mobile application that allows the Government of Canada to share previously published scientific information in an innovative way to a wide audience. Users can identify their hardiness zone, apply search filters, and explore the native trees of Canada that could be planted on their property and in their neighbourhood. Over 80% of Canadians now reside in urban areas and while they may not be as familiar with traditional forest activities and research as their rural counterparts, they value and benefit from the trees that grow in their towns and cities. In fact, this year’s State of Canada’s Forest Report highlights the importance of adapting our urban forests in a changing climate.
