The Lower North Thompson Community Forests Trail Restoration Project wrapped up boasting another 76 km of trail in the Mayson Lake area.
This project was partnered with Simpcw First Nations, Ministry of Tourism Culture and the Arts, Employment and Labour Market Services (JCP), and the LNT Community Forests.
Nine participants benefited from the project gaining valuable skills and training as it relates to the forest industry.
The trails accomplished this year were historic First Nations trails in the Mayson Lake area. These trails have enhanced the already existing campsite and trails accomplished in previous projects.
One of the original goals of the community was to develop not only a trail system that would draw people to the area, but one that would link communities.
With the numerous projects that have taken place in the past two years, we now have a continuous trail from Fishtrap Horse Camp, through the Seven Sisters, up the Ipsoot Creek trail, through the Lupin Lakes and back to the Mayson Lake Horse Camp.
Historic trails around Bogmar, Boulanger and Allan Lakes are also ready for use, all totally 183 kilometres of trail.
All trails have been cleared, signed and mapped. The Lupin Lake chain of four lakes also has portages cleared and is ready for canoeists and kayakers.
