Non-timber proposal interests Bell – Shayne Morrow, Alberni Valley Times – July 27, 2011 An Alberni Valley-born proposal to create a product development fund for non-timber resources has caught the attention of B.C.’s Minister for Jobs, Tourism and Innovation Pat Bell.
This week, First Nations Wildcrafters co-owner Keith Hunter published an abstract calling on the province to recognize nontimber forest products as a legitimate industry and to provide support for research, product development and marketing. “Non-timber covers anything from wild mushrooms to honey and maple syrup,” Hunter said.
