The District of Vanderhoof is one step closer to getting a community forest set up in the area. The district has been given an invitation by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources to apply to have a community forest near Vanderhoof. Mayor Gerry Thiessen says if they applied they could be offered 45,000 cubic metres of forest per year.
