Community Forests increase utilization of wood – featuring the Nakusp and Area Community Forest

Firewood is an important product for the Nakusp and Area Community Forest (NACFOR), donating and/or selling over 20 loads of firewood annually. NACFOR recently changed their approach to firewood in order to reduce waste and increase utilization, by providing a fixed rate to contractors for all firewood based on scale volume and clearly stating that firewood will be donated or sold by NACFOR. This approach ensures that all firewood volume is tracked and scaled.
